I was pushed into the Vogue Theater, on Tuesday night, by streams of hyperactive music fans. It seemed that I was the oddity in the building. Most of the eager mass were very young, female and sporting some sort of glowing accessory. None the less I felt the enthusiasm of the building flowing into me. We were all primed for entertainment.
The first thing I noticed as I made my way down to the front of the stage, was the lack of a security pit. That meant that there would be no buffer for those being crushed by the horde behind them, to escape to if things got a little out of control. But as soon as I was done with that thought, I took a look around and remembered that everyone in the building was very young and quite petite. So my worries quickly disappeared.
I had arrived to the venue moments after the opening act had retreated behind the curtain. As I stood near the side stairs, I watched a slew of people race up the center to the front the stage. I quickly jumped into the mix to assure myself a good viewing position. The audience was very laid back, there was no pushing and shoving. People found the nearest vacant space and then occupied it. This for me was a little unusual. The standard scene of most concerts is to see a constant battle, a jockeying for prime place. It was kind of nice to see such a well-mannered group of people attend a musical event together.
It wasn’t long before the house music faded away and Lights and her band, filtered before us. The crowd was quiet at first. Then the spot lights above the band came on and illuminated the entire house. That was when the roars began. The howls of overly excited fans radiated through the air. The excitement level had just shot through the roof.
Lights Poxleitner, is beautiful young woman, with a spitfire attitude. She remained glued to her keyboard/synth for the first few songs, but this never deflated her charisma. She swung back and forth with the rhythm. Her body acting as a perfectly timed metronome.
I was a bit taken back by how well she owned the stage. Not that I ever doubted her ability, but I thought she would be a little more demure. Thank god she wasn’t. She rocked the hell out of the entire place.

Overall I found myself mesmerized by Lights. She has this tractor beam effect that just locks you in and never lets you go. She build this symbiotic connection between herself and the crowd. One feeding off the other, and vice versa, growing the level of energy to a mind-boggling level. Lights and her band were on fire, they left everything up on that stage. Kudos to them
