Live From LIVE at Squamish:
Aug 22, 2011 - 09.02
#las2011 http://ht.ly/68UtE – Thank you to Brand Live for LIVE at Squamish, you made my summer. Long live this festival in our backyard.
Aug 22, 2011 - 07.52
#las2011 http://ht.ly/68UtE = Weezer was crazy good. They played Pumped Up Kicks by Foster The People and the audience lost their minds. Kudos to Brand Live for this amazing weekend. You really pulled off something special. Weezer and Metric last night were amazing. Festival review to come today.
Aug 21, 2011 - 20.57
#las2011 http://ht.ly/68UtE – This Metric set is freakin’ gonzo. How can one woman have so much energy? She always goes above and beyond. Same with the rest of the band, James is like a tiger stalking his prey across the stage. WOW! This could be the best Metric set I have ever seen (this being the 6th time I have seen them). I mean the acoustic set yesterday was pretty good but this is blowing the place apart. Once again Brand Live has proven they have the ability to draw unimaginable energy from the artists. They must have a magic beer garden backstage, lol. Emily is so bubbly and sweet. AWE! Anyways back to the trenches with me.
Aug 21, 2011 - 20.50
#las2011 http://ht.ly/68UtE – Metric is up right now and it is a freaking gong show. The crowd is losing their minds, the photo pit has about 35 photogs, all of which are jockeying for position. It was a battle but totally worth it. I shot some quick video, nothing really great but check it out http://ht.ly/690uO.
Aug 21, 2011 - 20.43
#las2011 http://ht.ly/68UtE – Saw Dubtribe Sound System play part of their set and it was pretty good. Like I said I am not into the whole digi thing, but they can sure throw a party. The twosome knelt on the floor and had the field alive with writhing bodies. It was quite the site. Just about the check out Metric in about 15 minutes.
Aug 21, 2011 - 19.14
#las2011 Black Mountain is up right now and they are powerful. Their slow droning stoner psychrock has me by the balls and is making me sway back and forth. From looking out at the crowd I am not the only one captivated by these epic tunes. The sun just went behind the mountains and the sky is full of beautiful clouds. This backdrop looks like a painting. People are starting to get their second wind also. Dancing has started to sweep through the field. This is a great day.
Aug 21, 2011 - 18.19
#las2011 Those boys from Calgary known as The Dudes are rocking the stage. Dan Vacon just shot gunned a beer brought to him by one of the programmers from 100.5 The Peak. The crowd is enjoying everything they are dishing out. Looking out though the crowd looks a little thin. People must be out at the little stops spending their cash or drinking it away. I am glad i put on sunscreen, and brought a hat and water. Some folks look a little washed out. Many a sunburn in site. Now to wait on Black Mountain. Cheers.
Aug 21, 2011 - 17.34
#las2011 You are doing a wonderful job. This festival is the sleeper hit of the summer. It feels like such a small intimate experience, but I look around and there are thousands and thousands of attendees. This is awesome guys, kudos to all of you.
Aug 21, 2011 - 17.25
So here we sit on day 2 of LIVE at Squamish. We have seen lots of great bands once again; Brasstronaut, The Belle Game, Panda Watch (aka Said The Whale) and The Zolas. I have been really impressed with all four of the bands. They were all really on the ball. I would have to say that Brasstronaut was my favorite they have a very ambient sound that gets stuck deep inside you. Next favorite was Panda Watch. It was really cool, they came on stage wearing panda masks, even though it’s like 28 degrees out right now. So here we sit in the perfect setting for another day of majestic music.

Okay, okay, okay. I might have jumped the gun a little, Girl Talk was so good. I mean I am not usually into that whole digi scene. But goddamn can that boy throw down a mix. He had everyone and their dog going crazy. The festival turned into a madhouse. Live At Squamish really killed with the last two bands. I was a little skeptical of John Butler Trio and Girl Talk as closers, but they proved me wrong. Both were astounding. Tomorrow night will have to dig deep to beat out tonight. People were losing their minds. I hope all the pics we got turn out. I have some crazy crowd shots. Some woman was walking around the whole day topless, not sure if I should post it, but i do have a picture or two. Anyways I am beat, going to retire for the evening. Until tomorrow my sweets.
Aug 20, 2011 - 21.38
Hanging out in the media tent, getting ready for Girl Talk. I have to reiterate that John Butler Trio just made this festival. Scrap tomorrow, scrap every other band, thru just made this one of my favorite festivals ever. Bluesy, funky magic on the stage. Also an update, I am starting to feel swelling in my knee. Oh well nothing some sleep and a hot pad can’t fix.
Aug 20, 2011 - 20.41
John Butler Trio just stole the show. They are kicking this audiences ass. People are dancing, people are screaming, it’s chase. Everyon in the the festival dropped whatever they were doing and just ran to this stage to log this moment in their minds. It is epic my friends. One of the best festivals performances I have seen in my life. They are powerful and provocative, they are cool and calm, they are the band of the night by a long shot. Girl Talk will be hard pressed to beat this performance. Now to tend to my damaged knee, ICE ANYONE????

This festivals is great, way to go Brand Live!!!!
Aug 20, 2011 - 20.16
Just waiting on the John Butler Trio. This should be great, they are a really amazing group. I have also noticed that the lineups for the beer garden got really long all of a sudden. About 100 people deep.
Aug 20, 2011 - 20.15
Now it is starting to get a little colder, and the mosquitoes are out in full force. I am getting eaten a little but not to bad. I also found out my body is getting all old on me. I stepped in a whole in the field and twisted my knee. Ended up popping my knee cap out. Oh well all in the name of music.
Aug 20, 2011 - 20.13
Shane Koyczan just gave the most powerful presentation ever. He proclaimed his words to the entire festival. It was an original poem called My Voice. It literally had everyone just staring in pure awe. It was intense. He is the man, and should become an activist of some sort. He has the passion and intelligence to take on anything. Some people were even crying, it gave me goose bumps. WOW!
Aug 20, 2011 - 19.27
Emily Hayes is still dancing, going hard. Her and James have still gone unnoticed, it’s pretty amazing. The sun is starting to set. The mountains look amazing. This is an epic night.
Aug 20, 2011 - 19.24
Just saw two drunks pass out, right in front of me. Two guys just fell down and never got back up. The sun and booze are to blame. Thy are now being hauled away to be looked after, then probably kicked out.
Aug 20, 2011 - 19.22
Sun is going down, and this place is bumping. Kyrpios killed it st the Garibaldi stage, he is a sly word smith. He had that crowd bumping and pumping to perfection. Just listening to Stars right now they are pretty powerful. Emily Hayes and James are sitting front and center dancing to every note. It pretty wicked. She is cutie pie that one. People are still arriving, It’s really getting full here. Lots of crazies and lots of drinking. Trying to stay hydrated. Well back out to the field to absorb this awesomeness. Say tuned for more updates.
Aug 20, 2011 - 18.03
Well the day is pretty freaking awesome thus far. So far we have seen The Sweet Thing, Metric acoustic set, and Hey Ocean. The best by far has been The Sweet Thing, they were insane live. So energetic and musically majestic. Next would be Hey Ocean, pulling a close second. The lead singer is fucking hot and is really captivating on stage. The sun is hot, the woman are scantly clad and the music is amazing. LONG LIVE this amazing LIVE AT SQUAMISH festival.
Aug 20, 2011 - 12.19
