Patton Oswalt is proof that you can be a cool nerd. Not in the sense that he is really a “cool guy”, but in the sense that he is making it cool to be proud to be a nerd. For someone who has been a proud nerd for years, it is great to see someone in the forefront showing off his proud nerdness.

Most people may remember the name, Patton Oswalt, from his appearance in Ratatouille, as Remy the rat. Or possible you might recall him from The Comedians of Comedy, a behind the scenes shoot about four popular indie-comedians on the road. For those of you who know Mr.Oswalt and his amazing stand up albums, you are aware of his hilarious stage persona. He will inject Lord Of The Rings, comic book references and other geek related items into his set. This strange little man’s (I say that with the utmost respect) humor is personal and introspective, and will have you tearing up with laughter.

Of the albums he has bestowed upon the ravenous wolves that are the public, we have been blessed with hours of live comedy. In chronological order of release date you have 222 Patton Oswalt Bringing Nerd Power To Vancouver Concert Addicts, Feelin’ Kinda Patton Patton Oswalt Bringing Nerd Power To Vancouver Concert Addicts, Werewolves and Lollipops (W/DVD) Patton Oswalt Bringing Nerd Power To Vancouver Concert Addicts and My Weakness Is Strong Patton Oswalt Bringing Nerd Power To Vancouver Concert Addicts. Each of which is original and hauntingly funny. That’s right he is so funny, you will be haunted by it.

Having had the privilege to see this amazing comedian live at the Commodore Ballroom a few years back, I can say that he is one of the best new age comics you can find. Between him and the rest of the crew from The Comedians of Comedy (Zach Galifianakis, Brian Posehn and Maria Bamford) we truly have an indie-comedian movement. Something that nerdy little hipsters can latch on to and enjoy. Not having to succumb to the pop-comedians, ie Le Dane Cook.

It so happens that Mr. Patton Oswalt is coming out to Vancouver in the near future to grace us with his latest set. The Vogue Theater will be playing host on April 23rd – more information. If you are interested in checking this out, which I urge you do, you can get tickets here. you should not miss this show, as this comic book reading, fantasy-lore loving funny man will have you in tears.

"With a love for live music, way too much to say and inability to put down his camera , photojournalism was a logical step in his journey. Concert Addicts was born from a desire to express his opinion, share his photography, and share knowledge. Now the community is no longer his, it is ours."
