Robyn Blows It Apart

by Jamie Taylor on November 12, 2010 · 0 comments

Since her dance-pop explosion in the later part of the nineties, Robyn has been steadily building steam worldwide. Her sound has never been restricted to a specific genre, nor has she held anything back. At sometimes she can be as delicate as a snow flake, and at others, as explosive as a shotgun. Whatever the mood carrying her, she is always a delicacy to partake in.

During the course of 2010, she has embarked on releasing a trifecta of albums being referred to as the Body Talk series. So far she has dropped Body Talk Pt. 1 and Body Talk Pt. 2, which have been welcomed with open arms. These first two albums, both hit number one. Bringing her intense international success, and kudos from some of the biggest names in the industry. The industry is now in anticipation mode, for the third album, Body Talk Pt. 3, to hit the streets on November 22nd.

So far a tasty little single has been pushed out to tempt us with the album. The single being Indestructible (official video here), which is a little dreamy, a little dance with lot addictive. Pumping through these albums, had proved her spot in the upper echelons of popular music. Since she still keeps her attitude, and consistently is writing new music history, by sticking to her guns, she lures in a drone of indie dance-lovers, giving her even more street cred.

Robyn is playing in Vancouver on November 19th at Venue. I would post a ticket link but their is no point, as it was Sold out in minutes. Much like the rest of her tours, her die hard fans clamber to get their hands on tickets for her shows. Now with her popularity spreading like wildfire, the mainstream crowd is also demanding to see her. The clash of the two streams of music consumers is causing tickets to resell for ridiculous amounts. Looking over Craigslist, it is easy to confirm this, with individual tickets being posted for as much as $150.

I would encourage those of you out there who do not know Robyn, but who appreciate original dance-pop, to seek her out. Here are some examples of her work to get you going.
